Child Safety Standards
These are the published child safety standards for Niyyah (com.hugosoftware.niyyah), operated by Hugo Software. They describe how the app prevents, detects and responds to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Niyyah is an adults-only service
Niyyah is for people aged 18 and over who are looking for marriage. It is not directed at children and it is not designed for them.
- The minimum age is 18. The app rejects any age under 18 during onboarding and will not create a profile.
- The app is declared 18+ on Google Play, and Google Play is instructed to block users it determines to be minors from finding, installing or purchasing in the app.
- There is no feature intended for or marketed to minors.
Prohibited conduct
The following are forbidden and result in removal from the service:
- Any child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any sexualised depiction of a minor, in a photo, a profile or a message.
- Grooming, solicitation, sextortion, or any attempt to make sexual contact with a minor.
- Using the app while under 18, or misstating an age to gain access.
- Sharing or requesting sexual content involving anyone under 18.
These rules are part of the Terms of Service. Violation ends the account permanently, without warning and without refund.
How we prevent it
Every photo is reviewed by a person before anyone else can see it. A photo a user uploads is stored in a private bucket and is invisible to all other users until a human operator has reviewed and approved it. There is no path by which an unapproved image reaches another user, including by guessing a URL. Images are served only through short-lived signed links.
No unsolicited contact. Two people can only exchange messages after both have chosen to connect with each other. Nobody can message a stranger, and nobody can be contacted without having first opted in.
No automated or fake accounts initiating contact. Placeholder profiles used to populate a new city have no account and are structurally incapable of liking, matching or messaging anyone.
Age enforcement at the point of entry, as described above.
How users report a concern, inside the app
Every profile and every conversation in Niyyah has a Report action. Reporting also blocks the reported person immediately, so the user stops seeing them at once. No email, no external form, and no separate account is needed.
Reports go to a moderation queue that is reviewed by a person, oldest first. An operator reviewing a report can hide the profile from the service. Reports concerning a minor, or any suspected CSAE, are treated as the highest priority and are handled ahead of everything else in the queue.
Users may also write to [email protected] at any time.
How we respond
When we become aware of apparent CSAM or of CSAE conduct:
- The account is suspended immediately and its content is removed from circulation.
- The material and the associated account records are preserved as required for reporting.
- We report to the competent authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where applicable, and to the relevant regional or national authority in the jurisdiction concerned.
- The account is terminated permanently.
We comply with applicable child safety laws in the jurisdictions where Niyyah is distributed, and we cooperate with lawful requests from authorities investigating CSAE.

Keeping these standards current
These standards are reviewed when the app's features change and at least once a year. The current version is always published at this address.
